It is so appalling. I live in KC, and when I moved here a few years ago, I had numerous discussions with my colleagues at the time, most of whom were convinced he was doing late-term abortions out of sadism and/or for "the money." The misinformation out there was incredible. There were "pro-life" websites perpetuating it that also listed his address and personal info, complete with photos of him in church. It was really only a matter of time before someone took the next step...

Since hearing the news today, I've decided to get back to active volunteering with Planned Parenthood. Screw those nutjobs - all of them. Gunned him down in his own f***ing church... I'm just shocked and speechless.

This is sad and awful day for women that depend on the compassion of doctors like Tiller. I am heartbroken for the women that need these services in the future. Who will be willing to risk their life for this...

The US situation about abortion from an European point of view is real crazy, violent, sad and umbeliveble.
To put it in a ligheter level, what's is really surprising me is that even in films when someone gets pregnant, that's it, No escape, not even a thought of termination.It's like in the fifties! Is it scriptwriters' fault and lack of immagination? Or neocon spirit?

What kind of person thinks that their opinion of what the Bible says about the sanctity of life gives them the right to kill another person whose opinion differs?

And in a church.

How is it possible that we are still at a place that violence, MURDER is still a viable option for those within the "pro-life" anti-choice movement. I am shaken. I am angry. And I am pissed that the media is only referring to Dr. Tiller as a "One of few Doctors that performed late-term abortions" Can't they give him more credit? Of course not.

It is unfair and unjust to paint an entire movement and point of view with the huge brush of one (most probably mentally and emotionally unstable) murderer. Most people I know of within the pro-life movement would absolutely and unequivocally condemn this act of violence.
There are a lot of us out there who would if pushed into a corner say they are neither pro-life nor pro-choice in the classical sense. But the violent actions of one person who was probably "pro-life" and "vitriolic propaganda" of people who are pro choice make us think you are all crazy unreasonable people.
Lets move this whole issue to a higher plane of conversation and dialog. Please! One where both sides can reasonably acknowledge that people who hold a different view are neither crazy nor-evil.
